When the road chooses you. Kansas backroad adventure.

When the road chooses you. Kansas backroad adventure.

"Sometimes you choose the road, and other times, the road chooses you.  When the road chooses you, you will not have to question it - you will just know that you are going in the right direction, because you will feel it within your heart and in your soul. " ~Kelly Whitman/Endless Acres Photography I have been blessed (thank you God!) with a crazy, weird, strange ability to feel my way down the back-roads of any state, anywhere I go.  What do I mean by this?!    I like to let go , I like to be free and being free...

Random wander + discovery.

Random wander + discovery.

"Whatever good things we build, end up building us." ~ Jim Rohn It was a day ready for anything. A day with no plans, no agenda, and certainly no to-do list resting on the kitchen counter. A day that was all mine, or was it I who belonged all to the day itself? Wherever the wind blows.

Wherever the wind blows.

“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.” – Bill Bryson I love to live my life one day at a time and just simply going with the flow. Yesterday, I had a busy day full of morning errands to run - I was exhausted after getting very...

January 2013 backroad photo adventure.

I have so many people ask me, if I follow a specific 'abandoned' map that tells me where to go to find abandoned, run down properties and ruins.   The honest answer is... no! Ever since I have been exploring I have always just listened to my intuition.   I set out with nowhere specific in mind, and just honestly, go where I feel I should.   I really think God has blessed me with these feelings!   I see it as a gift.   At each stop sign along my adventures, I stop and just listen, look, feel  and then go, wherever I am...

Smith Mine Disaster. Bear Creek, Montana photo adventure.

Smith Mine Disaster. Bear Creek, Montana photo adventure.

I knew it would be coming up soon as we rode in the car around the twisty roads near Bearcreek, Montana.  I knew it was coming, I was on the look-out for the abandoned buildings, and for what remained.  I expected to see what was left after a disaster, but I didn't expect to feel what I felt when my eyes set upon the broken down structures, I didn't expect my heart to feel such heaviness as my feet rested upon the soil at the entrance to the property. There it was, in the mid day sun, beautiful as could...
