Treading deep waters — Kelly Whitman
My soul is treading deep waters
Far out into the sea,
further than any shore can reach.
It cries out ‘My God where are you?’
As I struggle to keep my head above water.
The waves crash into me one by one
My body sinks, my soul yells for me to push myself more.
My legs give up, tired and sore,
God calls out ;
“My child- I’m near.’
‘I’ve put you in the deep,
to see if you could swim- using just me for your light & your soul to keep you moving.
You’ve got this my loved one, keep pushing towards shore. There is rest for the weary, there is peace for the weak.
Your soul is a fighter- I created you this way. Your body is tired, this I know , but my love you are brave and courageous and in me you are strong.
Keep swimming towards shore, I have something for you when your feet touch the sand. A beautiful plan that would not have worked, if you stayed on dry land and didn’t put me first.
So trust me my dear, with each wave you conquer, I have a plan, for you are my child & I am your Father.
